St Andrew's Academy is a Secondary Special School which is part of the Shaw Education Trust. St Andrew's Academy consider applications for your young person through consultation from Derby City Council SEND team. Please contact the DCC SEND assessment Team through the below contact details should you like to proceed with an application to our school. This process is the same for in year applications and applications to our Sixth form provision. 

Should your application find the school at our commissioned number, our oversubscription criteria is determined by the Derby City SEND team on a case by case basis. Admission appeals are lead by the Derby City SEND team and will be heard following the relevant deadline dates from the date of notification of application, for example:

  • lodging appeals giving 20 school days to prepare and lodge a written appeal.
  • submitting additional evidence.
  • admission authority to submit evidence.
  • appeal papers to be sent to relevant parties.
  • ten school days' notice of the appeal hearing.
  • then decision letters sent within five school days of the hearing, if possible.
