Student Voice

Student Voice represents the views of all our students. It gives students the opportunity to make their voices heard and feel part of the whole school community.

Student voice is a group of 9 students who meet weekly to discuss matters that we feel as a school are important to us. The students represent the whole school with a cross section of students from all three key stages.

This term we have been thinking about what makes our school special. We began by looking at our previous website and considered what we like about our school. We then moved on to consider which areas of the curriculum we enjoy before considering what improvements we would like to make to different areas around the school including classrooms, communal areas and our outdoor spaces. Before Easter we have a visit planned to look around one of the local schools to consider how they have used their space around school and if there is anything we would like to replicate at St Andrew's School.

Recent Experiences

On 13th March we walked down to St Giles School to have a tour of their outdoor spaces. We were greeted by Key Stage 2 members of their school council and our students were very excited to see some familiar faces from when they attended the school. Our students split into 2 groups. Group one were taken to look at the garden area which has been created with raised flower beds making it accessible for all. Group 2 went down to look at the outdoor classroom and sensory garden. We had great fun trying out the different areas within the garden space. We especially liked that all of the classes had a designated outdoor area attached to their classroom. We all left St Giles feeling very inspired and excited about how we could include some similar elements back at St Andrew's School.
