We are a small group of Year 10 and 11 students on the Autistic Spectrum who enjoy developing our awareness of the world around us through sensory exploration. Our topic based learning provides lots of opportunities to engage and have fun in a wide range of learning experiences. Through practical activities we work at developing our functional skills and particularly focus on using PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) to develop our communication skills.
It's great to have the students back in school full time. The class is settling in well and we're looking forward to a fun and productive term. Our topic for the term is 'Islands' which provides plenty of scope for imaginative learning through sensory stories, creative design projects and some innovative treasure hunting!
