In Lewis class we try to give the students amazing opportunities and the best experiences we can.
This year we will be learning about poetry, amazing inventions and being healthy. We do lots of PE sessions - including taking part in a daily take 10, this is 10 minutes of physical exercises that we do along to the latest music. We will be creating lots of different things in art with clay and having fun each week taking part in a virtual quiz with one of the KS4 classes.
Last year we attended a residential trip in the shining cliff woods for 1 night. This was a great opportunity for all the students who attended and it was amazing to see how they coped in the different setting and gave us all the opportunity to build our staff/student relationships and get to know each other that little better. We will be looking at this again for this year so make sure you keep a look out for information into the new school year.
Each day we are having 15 minutes of relaxation which gives us the opportunity to be calm after lunchtime. We listen to relaxing music and one of the staff read out a relaxing meditation story.
Each week we look at different jobs that people do. We discuss this and talk about what jobs we would like and understand what equipment might be needed. After this we have some fresh air outside doing some gardening. We are also looking at starting to grow some of our own vegetables, herbs and flowers.
We have a team challenge every week where the students have to work out a solution to an activity. For example, move a balloon across the room without using your hands.
At the end of each day we are starting a new D.E.A.R activity. This is a time for each class to ‘Drop Everything And Read’. The students will be able to choose a book each week that we will look at as a group.
